Somatic trauma therapy · Tepoztlán and online

I am a somatic therapist, and I work with trauma.

I work with the body, because that is where trauma stays. I use two kinds of tools: the ones that come from science and the ones that come from very old cultures. I don't choose between them. I use them together, depending on what each person needs.

Online, and in person in Tepoztlán and Mexico City. In English and in Spanish.

IWho this work is for

Almost everyone who comes to me has already done therapy.

They understood a lot of things, and they still repeat the same patterns. That is not a lack of will. Talking does not reach the place where trauma stays, which is the body.

I work mostly with three situations.

01

Relationships that repeat.

You want deep bonds and cannot sustain them. Or you choose, again and again, people you already know how it ends with. Or you find it hard to trust that anyone can hold you.

02

Projects you cannot sustain.

You want to build something or create something, and fear or anxiety stops you. Everything feels like too much.

03

A body that carries everything.

Chronic pain, chronic anxiety, chronic illness. They are different things, but in my experience they share something: a nervous system that never settles.

Also

I also work with people who are afraid of death, and with people who simply feel there is more in them and want to explore it.

IIWhy the body
Two hands resting on a chest; a thin line runs down the center like a nerve

Where it stays

Trauma freezes something in time.

Everyone has trauma. What matters is not defining it, but seeing how it affects you. Your life keeps moving, you keep showing up, and you are not present for any of it.

The body is the oldest technology we have, and the one we least know how to use. If we let the nervous system regulate the way it is built to, we would need very little therapy. My work is to help that happen again: your nervous system settles, and you come back to being present in your body, in your life and with the people around you.

It is not a magic pill. What I can tell you is that if you are willing to do the work, to look at what you have avoided your whole life and to do it through the body, the change is real.

aliveness

The word I use for it

Coming back into the body, into life, and into relationship with yourself and with other people. Not calm for its own sake. Presence.

IIISymbols as a tool
An altar seen from above: a woven cloth, a candle, a stone, a bowl of water, copal, a feather and a photograph
1The cloth, the place where the work happens.
  1. 1The cloth, the place where the work happens.
  2. 2The candle,to open and to close.
  3. 3The stone, something that weighs and can be put down.
  4. 4The water,for what needs to move.
  5. 5The copal,to clear the space.
  6. 6The feather,the air.
  7. 7The photograph,the ancestors.

The other half of my work is ritual and ceremony.

I work with symbols. I ask you to imagine your mother or your father, we do constellations, and if it is needed, you sit in front of the altar and speak to your ancestors.

This is not decoration. It is a tool, the same way breathing is, or a regulation exercise. Symbols reach the unconscious by a road that words cannot take. Jung understood this a hundred years ago, and ancestral cultures understood it long before him.

The more I have rooted my work in the body, the more connected it has been to the elements and to what I call spirit. For me they are not two worlds. They go hand in hand.

IVHow I work
  • 01

    Somatic Experiencing

Peter Levine's method for releasing trauma through the body, not through the story.

  • 02

    PSIP

Psychedelic Somatic Interactional Psychotherapy. I use it with and without medicine. It is relational, body-based work, grounded in neuroscience.

  • 03

    Jungian psychology

I work with images, symbols and the parts of you that you don't know yet.

  • 04

    Ritual and ceremony

The altar, the elements, the ancestors. Tools, not decoration.

No two processes are the same. The tools we use depend on your story and on where you are.

VThe process and what it costs

What I do is not open‑ended therapy. It is a process.

It has a beginning, an end and an intention. When it ends, you decide whether you want to open another one.

  1. 1

    A free 15-minute call.

You tell me what brings you, and we see whether it makes sense to work together.

  2. 2

    A form.

If we are going to work, I send you a form that helps me understand your story before we begin.

  3. 3

    Four sessions, one a week.

By the end of the fourth I know what we need to work on, and you decide how deep you want to go.

  4. 4

    Three months.

That is the minimum I recommend: one session a week. The nervous system changes with repetition, not with a good explanation.

  5. 5

Then you renew, if you want to.

In packs or in single sessions, with a new intention.

VI · Immersions

When the process asks for it, we do an immersion.

A few days in Tepoztlán, with two or three people, to look closely at one specific part of your process. It can be with medicine or without it.

I work with therapists and practitioners from the area who add to the process: bodywork, water, the elements, ritual and ceremony.

An immersion cannot be booked on its own and has no fixed price, because it is designed for you. It only makes sense inside a process we have already begun.

Where the in-person work happens

I am Venezuelan and I live in Tepoztlán.

Before I became a therapist I worked for many years in branding, building brands for other people. I trained in Somatic Experiencing, in PSIP and in Jungian coaching.

Her story, in her own words, and her portrait go here. They arrive with her voice note.

Three things to know before we begin.

  • If you take psychiatric medication, we can work together, but I need to be in contact with your psychiatrist. That is not negotiable, and it is for your safety.

  • I do not offer ceremonies or substances on their own. Everything I use is a tool inside a therapeutic process.

  • I work in Spanish and in English. Half of the people I accompany live in Mexico and the other half in the United States.
